Vegas Slideshow

Our Ten Year Anniversary Trip

Brian and I just got back from our anniversary trip in Las Vegas. We'll be celebrating ten years in December! Hard to believe! I'm looking into making a slide show with most of the pictures, but here are a few highlights from our trip.

Monday night we saw Wayne Brady. If you ever saw him on Drew Cary's Whose Line Is It Anyway? that's mostly what his show was like. He would talk to people in the audience, take what they said, and build a skit around it. He was great!

Tuesday night we saw Carrot Top. He's a prop comic, so I was worried that might get a little old, but he really only used props for about half his act. We enjoyed his show too.

This is where we stayed - The Venetian. It's now at the top of our "nicest hotel we've ever stayed at" list. It was awesome! We could have never left there and had a great time. But we did leave. We had to check out the rest of the strip, see downtown, and visit the Hoover Dam!

This place is amazing! Our bus driver was very interesting also. We learned lots of Vegas history on the one hour drive out to the dam.

We had a great time on our trip. We spent about $4 on the slots, and probably about $50 on bottled water! We enjoyed being away for a few days, but were excited to see the boys when we returned. They had fun with Nana while we were gone. Thanks Nana!

Where Have We Been???

Brian and I returned tonight from our anniversary trip. Things were crazy before we left so I never got a chance to post. Hopefully tomorrow I can post some pictures and give some details of our fun trip!!! Happy Thanksgiving all!

Us As Elves!

Several of my friends have "elfed" themselves, so I had to also! Check out our two dances below. That 5th furry elf is our dog, Maestro. Most of the dances needed 3 or 5 elves, so since we only had four it put a generic elf in. I figured I'd rather dance with Maestro than some elf I didn't know.

Super Hero Secrets Revealed

OK, so after yesterday's post I've figured out how to generate comments! I see what it takes to get you people excited! I was planning on not posting anything else for a few days so Spence in his cute little shirt (hopefully I have better mothering skills than I have iron-on skills) would be the first thing you'd see on our site. But of course, Coleman said something too cute today. Cute enough to trump the new baby? Decide for yourself.

Coleman has this toy airplane that has a clear plastic cockpit on top that pops open and a GI Joe-like guy fits in. He was playing with it tonight, pretending that it was a bad guy. He had Spider Man climbing on the plane trying to stop the bad guy.

Coleman: Spider Man's on the plane, but he can't get it open.
Mommy: He'll have to use his super hero powers.
Coleman: No, he's got a key.

Again, what do I know. I'm just a girl.

Our Little Problem Solver

As we were leaving church today I noticed Coleman's shoes were on the wrong feet. When we got in the car I asked him if he wanted me to put them on the right way. Sitting in his seat, he propped his feet up on the back of the front seat, crossed them, and said, "Now they're on right!"

Happy Veterans Day!

Thank you to all the veterans who have made sacrifices for our freedom! We are so thankful for your service to our country. A big "thank you" and "we love you" to Grandpa for his service!

A Thief Among Us

When someone asks a question in our house, such as "Who wants ice cream?!?!" anyone who wants some raises their hand and says, "I do!!!" This works for other less desirable questions also. This was the conversation in the back seat this morning after Coleman tooted.

Coleman: Who tooted?!? I did!!!
Spence: I did!!!
Coleman: No, I did!!!
Spence: I did!!!
Coleman: Mommy, he's stealing all our toots!!!

You Only Turn 2 Once - Day 2

So today was the big birthday bash. Actually, the small family gathering. My kids don't get big birthday parties with friends until they turn three. They don't know the difference, right? Spence loved it though. We did a dinosaur theme. Spence says, "DINEsoars!!!" Thanks Nana and Poppa for coming to Spence's party!

"The anticipation is more than I can handle!"

Opening Grandpa and Grandma's presents

Hurry! Open it! It's a Diego Jeep!

Dinosaurs from Mommy and Daddy

All the gifts (except Uncle Brent and Aunt Drea's Thomas bath toys)

Coleman got a few gifts too, including these Superman pajamas

The cupcakes

Presents? Chocolate frosted cupcakes? This is the best day ever!

Mommy kept it simple this year

They are as good as they look!

Our Newest Two Year Old

I can't believe my baby is two! If you ask him, he'll say he's two, but hold up all ten fingers like this:

Nana and Poppa arrived this evening and we had dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Spence had ice cream, even though he didn't eat his chicken. That's a birthday perk - dessert without having to eat your dinner. Tomorrow we'll have a little party. Coleman was begging for Spence to open one present tonight, and he promised he'd share with Spence! So we opened the present from Uncle Brent. It was a Thomas bath toy. They love it Uncle Brent and Aunt Drea!

This afternoon we were playing outside and Spence said, "Happy birthday, Coleman." Coleman said, "No, it's your birthday Spence!" So I asked Coleman about his birthday.

Mommy: When is your birthday, Coleman?
Coleman: January.
Mommy: Do you know what day?
Coleman: Twelfthmas.
Mommy: So your birthday is January twelfthmas?
Coleman: Yeah.

I'm guessing that's like Christmas?

Spence's School Party

Today I took treats to Spence's class to celebrate his birthday.

Today the kids learned about dinosaurs. Coincidentally, Spence brought his friends dinosaur goodie bags! You'd think I was clued in and on top of things, but really I just got lucky.

Here is a picture of the boys in some of their new helmets.

Coleman loves to ride in the back of his dump truck. He pushes himself by turning the wheels just like you would in a wheel chair. He's wearing one of his new jerseys and helmet.

Tonight we celebrated my birthday at Jason's Deli. You already know what I had, so I won't bother saying! I'm more blessed this year than last. I love my family and friends and have so much to be thankful for. Thank you for all the cards and calls! Especially your card, Brian. It was so sweet.

Anybody Else a Little Worried?

Today I called my dear, beautiful, wonderful, amazing, godly friend Theresa. She's been spending much time in prayer leading up to tomorrow's election. She, like probably a lot of us, has been worried about what will happen to our nation. I have to admit that I have not been praying about it like I should. I tend to try to ignore a lot of it. I get discouraged because I want to understand what each candidate stands for, but I feel like they are all spending so much time bad-mouthing their opponents and twisting the truth that it's hard to know who to believe. That being said, I'm praying that all those undecided voters decide to go with McCain! I could care less what race or gender our next President and Vice President are, as long as they stand for the important things that I believe are right. Theresa said she came across this verse in her quiet time today, and I don't think she'd mind if I shared it with my readers.

Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.
Joshua 3:5

She said after reading that verse, her confidence was strengthened. Not so much her confidence in the voters or the politicians, but in our God! He is the One who rules our nation! He knows the outcome of tomorrow's election, and He's in control. Let's keep our nation and the leaders who will be chosen tomorrow in our prayers.

Now for a little lighter reading. When I first sat down to type this, Coleman was crawling all over me. Brian coerced him away by asking, "Who wants to put on a helmet and have some balls thrown at his head?!?!" Coleman was all for that! Brian stumbled upon a private school garage sale yesterday after church and we ended up buying 5 helmets (football, batting, catcher's mask, bike, and lacrosse) 'cause you can never have too many helmets lying around, and two sports jerseys for $7.50. What a deal!!! (Men agreeing, women still pondering the need for 5 helmets.) Last night the boys modeled all the helmets for Grandpa and Grandma via the webcam. I think they liked seeing it. We love being able to talk and see you guys whenever we want!

Happy Halloween!

I feel like I should apologize for the quality of the pictures I've taken lately. My subjects just aren't cooperating! It's near impossible to get them to look at me and smile, so I take what I can get. Oh how I'm dreading stressing out over getting the perfect Christmas picture. For Halloween we went to my parents' church carnival. The boys had a great time, mostly in the bounce houses. These aren't the great pictures I'd hoped to get of my brave knight and fearless dragon, but here they are!

Hold on, I'm not quite ready.

Mom, this picture better not resurface when I get married.

Coleman, Spence, and Mommy about to slide!
