What Kid Hates Egg Hunts?

Saturday was our church's Easter Egg Hunt. We of course thought the boys would have a blast, and Spence did. Coleman on the other hand had some issues. He got completely freaked out when they went to the gym to play some egg races, then couldn't recover in time for the actual egg hunt. We think it had to do with the number of kids lined up to do egg races, or the fact that he wasn't sure of the directions, or that he was scared of some of the bigger kids. Whatever the source of the problem was, out of 50 children there, he was the only kid crying at the Easter egg hunt!

The boys coloring Easter bunnies. This was not distressing to Coleman.

Here's where the trouble started. As the other kids were racing down court trying to keep their eggs in their big spoons, Coleman was screaming on the sideline, "I WANT TO GO HOME!!!"

Spence took off to find his eggs in the 2 year old and under egg hunt.

He had a good time!

Finally, a picture without tears!

I feel a little bad that I don't sound too sympathetic. We didn't force him to do anything he didn't want to do. And he eventually found about 5 eggs. I guess next year we'll give him the option of staying home, or find out what games will be played and make sure he can practice ahead of time!

Bless his heart! Next year will be a totally new year! I'm sure it was just a phase and being nervous about the game/big kids makes sense!
