The Big Plop!

This post is all about potty talk, so stop reading now if you don't care to know about the bathroom habits of our 2 1/2 year old. Great! You're still reading! Coleman has been going pee pee on the big potty several times a day for a while now. Just in the last few days, he's decided to sit down and talk about going poo poo. There have been grunts (just for the sake of grunting) and some playing around, but tonight before bath he was sitting on the big potty and actually went poop! He seemed surprised to see that he had gone in the potty. He flushed it right away though and gladly accepted his two stickers that he had been promised in the event of going poo poo in the big potty. We'll see if he wants to try again tomorrow. I've been talking up big boy underwear, so maybe we'll look at that or some pull-ups this weekend to encourage more regular potty trips. If any moms have advice about potty training or thoughts on pull-ups please comment! I'm not a big reader, so I've decided against reading any potty training books so far. I haven't been pushing Coleman at all, but I do want to encourage him. Can't wait to hear some good advice! This potty chat is done.

Way to go Coleman!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just much more fun to flush the poop down the toilet than carry it around and have to have your bottom wiped !!!!! What a big boy!! HUG and KISS!!

Amanda...it will come...my thought is not to scold him if he goes in diaper...rather just be positive and PRAISE him when he does the toilet...he will like praises more than just ho hum diaper poop!!

Praying for you and Brian..

My best advice would be to praise. Which I think you're doing. :)
The hard part will be, having patience.
But he's done the hard part.
It's down hill from here!

Lots and lots of praise!!!! When Keanul was potty training I tryed to make it fun. When he have to pee I would put a few Fruit Loops in the toilet and have him aim for it. He thought that was so fun...Patience is the key. Somedays they want to be a big boy and other days not!

Amanda,
I have no experience yet with boys, but pull-ups were great for Haylea. She wore them when we would go out anywhere, just in case. I let her wear big girl panties at home. We talked about not wanting to potty or poo poo on Cinderella. That made a huge impression on her, she didn't want to get the princesses dirty. Isn't it amazing what a sticker can do? Have fun with it, they grow up SO fast!
